Congratulations Linda Moore for your Honoured Burgess award

How Proud We Are of Linda Moore (previous chair of Liskeard Traders Association)still a member and now the treasurer.

The Liskeard Traders Association is immensely proud to see Linda Moore presented with an Honoured Burgess Award in recognition of the dedication, hard work and commitment she has shown to our town over many years.

During her time as Chair of the Liskeard Traders Association, Linda achieved an extraordinary amount for the benefit of local businesses, residents and visitors alike. The following is just a brief summary of her many accomplishments.

Linda was instrumental in helping to maintain the pedestrian-only regulations in Fore Street between 10:30am and 4:00pm by introducing , decorative trolleys and benches, helping to keep the town centre safe and accessible for everyone. She worked tirelessly to make Fore Street more pedestrian-friendly, sourcing benches that provided visitors with places to sit and rest, while enhancing the street with attractive floral displays on either side.

Recognising the importance of supporting local enterprise, Linda created the Panier Market, providing start-up businesses with an affordable opportunity to establish themselves before eventually moving into permanent premises on the high street. The market also generated valuable funds for the Traders Association.

These funds helped support one of Linda's most visible and lasting legacies: eight years of funding for flower displays, planters and hanging baskets throughout Fore Street, Pike Street, Market Street and The Parade. These displays significantly enhanced the appearance of the town, making it more welcoming and attractive for traders, residents and visitors. This inspired another organisation In 2022 to take on the responsibility for this project , and it was successfully handed over to Liskeard in Bloom. However LTA still own and cover the insurance for all the flower stands.

Linda also worked closely with Biffa to improve the Pipewell area, arranging for the removal of accumulated rubbish, securing additional bins and organising the installation of another planter. She helped local tenants gain access to larger refuse bins, reducing the amount of waste left in the surrounding streets of Pipewell.

Her commitment to the wider community extended beyond the town centre. Funds raised through the Panier Market enabled a £1,200 donation to Stuart House, helping to provide match funding for a larger grant towards improvement works.

Many years ago, Linda also coordinated annual gutter cleaning for shop owners by arranging a cherry picker service at a highly competitive rate. She later contacted business owners again when Mary Portas visited Liskeard, encouraging them to support new business ventures by offering rent-free shop premises for periods of six to twelve months. Remarkably, all nine shop owners approached agreed to participate.

All of these achievements were driven by one determined individual, supported by the members of the Liskeard Traders Association. Linda Moore has always had Liskeard, its traders, residents and visitors at heart. Her selflessness, passion, determination and unwavering commitment have left a lasting impact on our town.

If one person can achieve so much, it is exciting to imagine what could be accomplished when an entire town works together with the same spirit, dedication and love for Liskeard that Linda has demonstrated throughout the years.

The Honorary Burgess Award is richly deserved, and we offer Linda our heartfelt congratulations and thanks for everything she has done for Liskeard.
